Great event and excellent experience

Felt there needed to be more briefing and Marshall’s available and actively letting kids know what to do on set-up and at transition. As parents weren’t allowed in some areas it was quite obvious that some of the kids were struggling to know what to do and where to go, especially the younger ones. Could have been a lot smoother. Especially for any kids new to the event.

Good but the start in the lake is very chaotic and overwhelming

My child really disliked the start as were made thread water for a long time before starting and it was overwhelming and chaotic. I feel if it was in smaller group waves this would work far better. Starting one by one in a line etc

Absolutely fantastic

What a superb event.
Organisation was excellent and the race marshalling was excellent. I have to say the marshalling was the best we've seen.
Safety was paramount and I could see the paddle boards and canoes helping out children with a lot of kindness and compassion.
The event really does cater for all abilities and it was clear there were a lot of kids with smiles on their faces afterwards.
Thanks very much to everyone who made it happen.
We'll be back next time.

Marvelous Marshalls

I watched the head marshall calm down a youngster in Tristar3 who’d missed his wave. Really took the time to calm his nerves, and got him out there with the next wave. I then watched the whole waterside crew coax my own daughter back in to complete the swim after she had a panic on the start line. Marshall on a paddleboard kept with her the whole way for reassurance. What a lovely inclusive race. Some amazing GBR racers out the front, and great support at the other end of the pack. Perfect day

Great event. Only query on the friendly to beginners question is whether you are happy in open water but it’s a great accessible event.

Encouragement all the way!

This was my first attempt at a triathlon and it was amazing! So much support and guidance and really friendly marshals. So glad I did it!

Brilliantly organised, incredibly friendly and such a brilliant idea to combine kids and adults racing in the same day

The family fun triathlon is a wonderful way to get kids into the sport, especially as they can watch the other kids racing solo as something to aspire to. Thank you for a brilliant day!

Average event but in a beautiful location

Mass start was horrible and chaotic! 90 people is too much for 1 wave. Other Eton Dorney organisers do waves, so it is possible. I would not do this one again if it is a mass start

Helmet and bike stickers

The main issue was that because of the rain before the actual race, the helmet and bike stickers were much to flimsy and firstly pretty much disintegrated and secondly didn’t adhere properly to the helmet due to lack of stickiness combined with the rain. I had to use extra tape which partly obscured the number.

Friendly, well organised race

Great race. Venue is good as it is traffic free and almost flat.

Friendly marshalls who gave good encourangement to all.

Recommended for all levels.

Great location with excellent facilities + parking + well organised

My only 'even better if' is that as the youth races were started all within quick succession this meant there were multiple different age groups joining the cycling and running while other age groups were trying to complete their laps / races.

The turning point for the cycling and the running was right at the point where people joined the race & some of the youth cyclists are really fast and the younger ones don't know what they're doing.

If there could be a little additional time between starting races I think this would reduce overlap and potential incidents.

Really great venue and the marshalls and everyone assisting were all really helpful.

Excellent, great fun, well run!

Loved this event, my boss had a brilliant time - excellent course, good post race snacks too!
But please get a better sticker supplier, they are not easy peel and I now have 3 bikes and helmets with sticky residue! Also, would you consider posting the age limit for the family triathlon? My 4 Yr old could have done it (and was very keen to!)

Thanks for a great day out!

Beginner friendly, well organised, fun triathlon

I did my first triathlon at Dorney about 15 years ago. It's a fantastic, safe and fast venue for sprints and super-sprints.
Sunday's event was great fun. I appreciated having the opportunity to join a club wave to start, the MC was excellent, ample porta-loos (you can never have too many), good catering and friendly helpful marshals.
Hard to think of too much to improve. The paper number stickers weren't the easiest to peel or remove, the swim start would have benefited from being a little further off the beach to allow more room, and there was a suspicion the 5km run course was a little short, but I'd always take that over a course that's too long!
