28 weeks have been and gone, so we are now into the “third trimester”
So far, I have been extremely lucky with our pregnancy – no morning sickness, sleepless nights, heartburn, high blood pressure or any other major alarming symptoms..
I am definitely feeling and looking pregnant now… I am keeping active and aiming to do an hour of physical activity 6 out of 7 days. I have really noticed a difference in how quick I am now able to move, how my heart rate doesn’t want to be pushed too high and the necessity for the occasional afternoon nap!
I took part in a spinning class at David Lloyd, Reading this week led by an awesome fitness instructor I used to work with at Virgin Active – Rob Wallace – he was well aware of my “condition” (there is no hiding it now!) and said “you know your limits and do as your body says”. Absolutely expert advice…I think some of the other guys in the group were a little concerned about me taking part, but I really did keep within my limits and it was nice to be moving in a group exercise class environment. At the end of the class one of the guys said to Rob surely Ellie shouldn’t be taking part and his response was “Ellie is more than welcome to keep exercising and coming to this class until her body says it doesn’t want to….” AND THAT IS WHAT I SHALL DO 🙂 Having started my latest CPD course it really has opened my eyes to how the body changes during pregnancy…
I must admit it is nice to not have the time pressure of training twice a day and constantly working out the logistics of what kit and food I need with me – I used to be like the bag lady leaving the house at 6am most mornings for a day ahead of training and working! I know we will be become “bag parents” once we have little one – what food and “clobber” do we need with us just to go to the supermarket??!!
So with 3 months to go – it is time to “prepare” mentally and physically for this big change in our lives which will soon be upon us….. I am doing lots of reading and Ian came home the other day from ASDA with “Mother & Baby magazine”…some things I would rather not have read! Can you ever prepare for being a parent…??
On a practical level, we are very lucky and blessed to have lots of goodies lent or given to us for our impending arrival; thank you to everyone who has passed goodies our way – our loft is now full!! We are also in the process of creating the “Nursery” which is currently our office… Ian has been extremely busy building a new garden Barnes Fitness Head Office which we are very excited to move into within the next week or so and then all systems go to transform the nursery :).
Exciting times ahead….
