Sink or swim….?

Yesterday (27 February 2022) I took on a challenge which was well out of my comfort zone…. 5 minutes 30 seconds swim in 5 degree water at Caversham Lakes Watersports without a wetsuit raising funds for First Days Children’s Charity.

Believe it or not, there are 5,300 children living in poverty in Wokingham Borough Council and lots are cold this winter due to the increase in fuel prices and cost of living.

Emma CantrellSusie Rees and I were cold for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Whilst we were cold Emma (founder of the charity) told us about a family First Days helped last week who had 5 children – none of whom had beds; the children were sleeping on the floor with a blanket. Thanks to First Days they now all have beds, mattresses, duvets and linen.

We are very close to reaching our target of £530, if you can spare even £5.30 (which will buy 2 pillows for a child) that would be amazing – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/53swimchallenge

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to much warmer climates and water temperatures in Lanzarote for the Tri50 Swim Camp at the end of April
